Arizona Cardinals Close Out Preseason With 20-10 Win Over The Redskins.

The Cardinals finished the preseason 3-1. What does that mean? I think the last two times we had a winning record in the preseason we had a losing record in the regular season. Oh well. At least ...

The Sun Devils offense will have a new look to it. Noel Mazzone has a big task to get this offense back on track. Actually, just getting a few first downs would be a huge improvement from last year. From azcentral.com Since his hiring in January, Mazzone, 53, not only has installed a four-wide, no-huddle offense, but also an energy that extends from the film room to the practice field. It comes in various forms. One day Mazzone is delivering a leaping chest bump to Steven Threet after the junior quarterback completes a long pass. The next he’s ordering sophomore quarterback Brock...
Coach Erickson like the progress of his ASU Sun Devils. The defense looks great, and he has settled on a starting quarterback. Nothing to do except sit back and wait for the season to start, right coach? From statepress.com Although nerves are typically common during the first game of the year, the Sun Devils are shrugging off questions on their mental state heading into the opener against Portland State. “We’ve been waiting a long time,” Erickson said. “Ever since that Arizona game and now we’ve made a commitment to get this program going in the right direction and so all ...
The Cardinals finished the preseason 3-1. What does that mean? I think the last two times we had a winning record in the preseason we had a losing record in the regular season. Oh well. At least this summer was interesting. Last nights game didn’t change anything. Derek Anderson is still going to start and Matt Leinart still needs to get his resume ready. From azcentral.com Otherwise, it was a pleasant evening devoid of theatrics. Derek Anderson started at quarterback for the Cardinals, played one series, completed 2 of 3 passes for 47 yards and helped the Cardinals to a field goal....
I am happy Steven Threet is excited to get in the game and show Sun Devil fans what he’s got. Threet sounds a little more mature than Brock Osweiler, he’s older and been through a little bit more in his career. From arizonastate.rivals.com After a year of sitting on the sidelines watching, followed by a heated quarterback battle that lasted the better part of six months, Steven Threet breathed a sigh of relief this week. Addressing the media for the first time since being named Arizona State’s starting quarterback, Threet said Tuesday that he appreciates the payoff for the work...

Arizona Diamondbacks Sweep The Padres! Believe!

Posted by buddha On September - 2 - 2010
I believe this season is over, but the Diamondbacks still have some fight in them. I likes it. This was a nice little three game sweep capped of with a 5-2 win over the Padres at Chase Field. Good job guys. diamondbacks.mlb.com The win was the sixth in the last seven games for the last-place D-backs, who swept the three-game series from the first-place Padres, who have now dropped seven straight. “The guys are playing good baseball and hopefully we can keep it going,” D-backs outfielder Chris Young said. “It’s nice to know that you can make a difference. Hopefully...

Arizona Cardinal Darnell Dockett Signed Until The Year 2015.

Posted by buddha On September - 2 - 2010
What will the future be like? Will America still be fat? Will Sarah Palin be President? I don’t know the answer to these questions but I do know Darnell Dockett will be a Cardinal. And that fact helps me sleep at night. From raisingzona.com Arizona Cardinals DL Darnell Dockett has signed an extension with the team.  It is reported to be through 2015.  That sounds like Darnell Dockett will be with the Cards for a long time.  Clearly if this had not happened, Dockett was going to go elsewhere.  That would have been a shame. Dockett is one of the hardest working players on and off...
The Diamondbacks are ending the summer on somewhat of a hot steak. Yes two in a row is considered a hot streak for this team. Dbacks beat the Padres 7-4 at Chase Field. That comes after a 7-2 win over the Padres on Monday. From diamondbacks.mlb.com Ian Kennedy overcame a rough first inning to pitch the D-backs past the Padres, 7-4, on Tuesday night at Chase Field. The win was the second straight for the D-backs, who have won five of their past six games. The Padres meanwhile have dropped six in a row. Kennedy (9-9) won for the second successive start, both of which have come against...

Steven Threet Gets The Start For Arizona State.

Posted by buddha On September - 1 - 2010
It seems like I have been talking about quarterbacks all summer. The Cardinals made their choice in Derek Anderson. Now the Sun Devils have settled on Steven Threet. Threet a transfer from Michigan, showed a lot of potential last season, he just couldn’t play. He has opportunity to shine this season. From fanster.com So Threet, a transfer from Michigan, wins the hotly contested battle between himself and sophomore Brock Osweiler that started all the way back in the spring. But that doesn’t leave Osweiler completely out in the cold. He’ll get some playing time against the Vikings....

A Couple Of Phoenix Suns In The FIBA World Championships.

Posted by buddha On September - 1 - 2010
How have the Suns been doing in the FIBA World Championships? Well, Goran Dragic had a good start to the tournament but didn’t have enough to carry Slovenia to a win against team USA. From valleyofthesuns.com Dragic was Slovenia’s second-leading scorer, finishing with 14 points, four assists and four rebounds. Dragic shot 5-for-10 from the field, contributing to Slovenia’s 55.4 percent shooting percentage. However, The Dragon also committed a team-high five turnovers. Dragic seemed comfortable running the offense and confident in his ability to lead it. As an individual though,...
The end of August means the end of summer people. Cold weather is a’ coming. At least if your live up North. Even if you don’t, you still might want to visit. That cold weather brings sleet and ice. And that could spell trouble for an unprepared man. And that is something you are not! If you have tire chains (chains made out of nickel manganese) you are set. No losing control and plowing into a tree or a bus full of nuns. You’ll be in complete control with these chains on your tires. Driving in adverse winter conditions can be dangerous. Mother nature can throw any number of things...
Its weird to think that this preseason was Matt Leinarts’ last chance. Considering he has been with the team since 2006. Why didn’t the organization make a trade in the off season? The offense could have been that much farther along with Derek Anderson. I would have liked to have seen a definite decision much sooner. I think the team would have been better off for it. From foxsports.com Matt Leinart’s days in Arizona may be numbered. The Arizona Cardinals have been calling around the league trying to trade their former first-round draft pick, FOXSports.com has learned.Several teams...
The Suns News GM was introduced yesterday. Lance Blanks is happy and excited to be with the Suns organization. I think he has arrived at a great time in this franchises’ history. I really believe the Suns are going to build on the success they had last season. From azcentral.com “There’s a great infrastructure in place to have success,” Blanks said. “So part of my job will be staying out of the way and not messing things up.” New Suns President Lon Babby hired Blanks three weeks ago to be his “basketball genius.” Babby cited Blanks’ acumen...
I love visiting San Diego, the Gaslamp district, day drinking at Lahaina’s and the weather. Wow, its like paradise. Except for the Diamondbacks who have yet to win at Petco Park this season. The Dbacks dropped another one 9-3 yesterday. From diamondbacks.mlb.com The loss was the third in a row and dropped their record to 0-8 this year at PETCO Park with just one more game left here. “We came out with a good attitude tonight,” said D-backs interim manager Kirk Gibson, who had a pregame meeting with his club. “We played poorly. This kind of game is very humbling. We...

Ready To Give Up On Matt Leinart? I’m Not. Not Yet.

Posted by buddha On August - 26 - 2010
This season is going to be a test for those new found Arizona Cardinals fans. Doesn’t look like any game is going to be easy this year. Judging from the last two pre-season games, this team is not going to defend it’s NFC West title this year. We can talk about Matt Leinarts’ performance all we want. The offensive line looked horrible, so did the running game. Those problems are going to have to be addressed, otherwise it’s won’t matter who is at quarterback. foxsportsarizona.com As expected, the success of the offensive line and running game has gone hand in hand.  The early...

Sun Devil Basketball Picks Up Top Home Grown Recruit.

Posted by buddha On August - 23 - 2010
Herb Sendek got a big verbal commitment Saturday. Jahii Carson a star point guard from Mesa High has indicated his desire to attend ASU. I likes it. Herb Sendeks’ reputation as a recruiter has been unfairly questioned. I think this commitment from Carson addresses those concerns. From arizonastate.rivals.com During an unofficial visit to the school Saturday, Mesa High School star Jahii Carson gave coach ASU Herb Sendek a verbal commitment. In doing so, he became the first elite point guard recruit from the state to elect to play for the hometown Sun Devils during the Pac-10 era. For Sun...
